What is Equicoaching?

Equicoaching (also called equine-assisted coaching) is a form of experiential coaching in which a horse acts as a live, unbiased mirror for a person’s presence, emotional state, and leadership behavior. It is entirely ground-based — there is no riding, and no prior horse experience is needed.

How equicoaching works

Horses are prey animals, so their survival depends on reading the emotional state of everything around them with precision. In a session, the horse responds not to what you say but to what is genuinely present in you — your congruence, your tension, your intent. That response is immediate, physical, and impossible to fake.

A facilitator helps you observe what the horse reveals and translate it into concrete insight you can apply back at work.

What equicoaching is used for

Leaders use equicoaching to close the gap between how they think they show up and how they actually land. It can surface patterns — over-control, avoidance, performed calm — in ninety minutes that months of conversational coaching may not reach. It is especially powerful for presence, trust, feedback, and team dynamics.

What to expect in a session

A short conversation about what you are bringing, then time in the space with the horse — no script, no agenda. The session ends with a debrief that turns the experience into applicable insight. Sessions run about 90 minutes, individually or in small groups, in Provence or California.
