The Meta-Model in Leadership Communication

By Loïc Florentin ·

Most leadership conversations stall on generalities — "the team isn't aligned", "we need to be more strategic". The NLP meta-model is a set of precise questions that recover the specific experience behind the generalization.

When a leader says "they don't respect me", the meta-model asks: who, specifically? Respect shown how? What would respect look like in a single observable moment? The fog lifts, and with it the paralysis.

Used well, it is not interrogation — it is the discipline of getting precise about what is actually happening, so the next action is obvious instead of agonized.

This is where a conversation begins.
